Muslim Tea Room Milton Keynes

UPDATE: 11/03/2017

Please note the Tea room has now moved to the Christ Cornerstone church in Central Milton Keynes.

The Truby's Garden Tea Room is held on the first Saturday of every month at the Islamic Centre MK. The Tea Room attracts people from all walks of life, different backgrounds, ethnicity and religion. We met members of Churches, Council workers and local residents, some of whom had never stepped inside an Islamic Centre before. Positive feedback was received from all individuals interviewed. We even managed to take a peek at the guest book, filled with comments of positivity towards the Truby's Garden Tea Room.

A range of cakes and treats were available at the Islamic Centre, including:

  • Cream Tea

  • Scone with Butter and Jam

  • Victoria Sandwich Cake

  • Chocolate Fudge Brownie

  • Chocolate Orange Cake

  • Fresh Cream Coconut

  • Carrot Cake

  • Chocolate Brownies

  • Cup Cakes

  • Mandazi (East African Doughnut)

There were also plenty of lunchtime options:

  • Spicy Kebab Rolls

  • Homemade Lamb burgers

  • Channa Chaat

  • Tuna Kebab Wraps

  • Falafal Wrap

  • Cheese Toastie

  • Lamb Pilau with Raita

One of the most notable sights upon entering the Tea Room is the use of decorations and cutlery. A great deal of time and effort has gone into ensuring each customer is provided with a traditional English Tea Room experience. When walking into the Islamic Centre, we were greeted by one of the waitress staff members, who showed us to our seat and took our order extremely quickly. It wasn't just the order that was quick, the food was provided quickly too, cooked to perfection!

Kurshida Mirza, organiser of the Tea Room, has done a fantastic job of creating a peaceful, enjoyable atmosphere with the help of a number of volunteers, all of whom put in a great deal of effort and time to ensure the success of the Tea Room.
